Can’t speak to Penn but my son is a 1st year EE major at GT. He loves it there. Very tough but lots of opportunities esp for internships and co-ops, great campus life. He’s been able to find a nice balance between school and social life. The campus is nice too - lots of green space even though it’s in the heart of midtown ATL.

GT is ranked much higher for grad school. I don't think it's as difficult to get into undergrad, though. UPenn is not the greatest for engineering, however, but it's an Ivy, so there's that.

Tough choice. GT is more stemmy, so maybe GT if that's your kid's inclination? Doe he like Philly? The South? Both are fine schools. GT is a lot bigger then UPenn if size matters.

Thanks much for all the replies! No $ from either school. He applied for EE but UPenn's letter just lists School of Engineering and Applied Science. He doesn't have long term goals yet but we as parents don't think he is into business/management. He's well rounded though, with many interests, sports music...

GT is a better engineering school but Penn is an Ivy and not weak in engineering by any means.

I would say GT

For STEM and engineering, definitely GT. But visit both and see what campus culture he likes better m. Congratulations!
