My DH drives on autopilot. It drove me absolutely bananas when he would adjust ALL of the settings of my car to literally back it out of the drive way, drive 10 feet, and park it in a space. Like it made me unreasonably mad.

The car the I purchased almost 10 years ago had everything except the power lift gate. I swore I would never do that again, either.

So, no, I wouldn't pay $45k for a car that had manual seats and a manual lift gate.

Can you purchase a different car?

There are plenty of other cars that do have auto seat adjustment and power lift.

If it was just me driving, it would not bother me at all. The rear lift would bother me - I use that ALL THE TIME, especially for curbside grocery pick up. That said, my husband and I switch cars all the time and it drives me nuts when I have to fiddle with all the adjustments.

So, does manual allow for up/down adjustment? Or only back/forwards of the entire seat and up/down of the top part of the seat?

I wouldn’t want a car that doesn’t allow for the adjustment of the seat height (which is standard for power seat adjustment).

I think that's worth more than $700 for resale value.

Many cars also have something like "comfort entry" where the seat moves back to help you enter/exit the car and then moves into your driving position when you start.

I don't think it would affect resale because most people aren't switching cars regularly. My DH and I do, and we also have a foot difference in height -- but really, it doesn't take much time to do all the adjustments manually. It isn't just the seat -- it's the side and rearview mirrors, the steering wheel, etc. If just the seat adjustment is missing, it's not a big deal.

Sorry I think that's what I meant to say--no power seat adjustment. Only manual.

While annoying not to have what you ordered, I would be able to live without it as long as the front seats still had the 8-way power adjustments. I use the power liftgate more than I thought I would but would be ok using the handle release. Ask them to also throw in the trunk cargo cover if they don’t include that already (another pet peeve ).

Due to the current state of low inventory, I ordered an SUV a couple months back, and one of its standard features is supposed to be seat memory and auto adjustment. However, I received a call from the dealership that because of the chip shortage, seat adjustment on the car will now be manual. This would be fine, except that it cannot be retro-fitted: I will receive a $700 credit instead. It is already missing automatic liftgate due to the chip shortage.

I am currently without a car and can't hold off for much longer--however now I'm rethinking if it is worth it to pay $45k+ for this car.

WWYD? Lower my expectations and accept this is the times we live in and be grateful I have a car on the way at all, or is it crazy to settle at this price point and I will take a massive loss with resale value, etc?

I'm a bit concerned with what other features the manufacturer will decide to forgo by the time it goes to production. :/
