The deer should have looked both ways.

That is likely the speed limit on most 6 lane roads in MoCo. The deer should have known better! They put those deer crossing signs up for them. If he was not in a designated area, he was at risk.

Just because the speed limit is 35 DOES NOT MEAN YOU *MUST* DRIVE 35!!!!

A lower speed for the conditions is prudent. If there are deer everywhere then 35 is NOT a reasonable speed, is it?

Duh….

Thanks!! That’s my hope! I’m taking it to the autobody shop for an estimate tomorrow morning.

As others have said, call your insurance.

Rockville is full of deer unfortunately. The city has been considering a limited cull but a lot of people have been pushing back. They're everywhere.

Call insurance. They will tell you what to do. Sorry for your loss ( and for the deer).

I guarantee you your 2009 Honda Fit with 165k miles is not worth 6k. Yes you call the insurance.

I love this car and it’s such a bad time to be buying a new one. So irritated. I’ll call insurance in the morning.

Call insurance. They’ll take care of it without it affecting you

Call your insurance. Given it’s age, they should total it.

I hit a deer tonight in Rockville going 35-40 mph on a six lane road. Poor little bugger came out of nowhere from the side of oncoming traffic. The car is pretty smashed up but drove home OK. The car is a 2009 Honda Fit Sport with 165k miles. Seems to be worth $6500 or thereabouts. Is there any reason not to go through insurance? We have no accidents on our record and I know we have an accident forgiveness credit. Do I call insurance or take it to a shop first? This has never happened to me.
