W-L has a strong debate team. My son does debate for another high school, and I am a judge. W-L has strong competitors each time and I believe some of them are going to/have gone to regionals.

Well the only regional schools is GDS. Is their a second tier that would reveal the schools behind GDS in debate?

I've been out of debate for a while new, but back in the day, the most prestigious high school tournament was the Tournament of Champions (TOC), and you had to qualify to get in. Here is a link to teams who have qualified:
