Many fans today actually plug into an outlet in the housing. My 75 mother replaced hers when it burned out.

Good luck! On something like this that’s not really essential you can always try to DIY it and give up and call for help if you get in over your head. Just make sure the power’s off.

If you're a new homeowner I recommend you do the pepco energy audit. Bathroom fan was part of ours ( one company suggested it be on on timer 24/7) but they they do the work and you get rebates.

I need to replace a broken bathroom fan. Do I call an electrician or just a normal handyman? Do I need to order a replacement myself?
