likley tank drilled or suction line removed from fuel pump and tank sucked out that way. all modern cars in the lat 20 years have anti-siphon valves/blockers to prevent this...

I assume your vehicle is large enough that the thief hoped he'd get a lot of gas?

OP…I certainly hope the tank wasn’t drilled. Is that an expensive repair? I am in VA inside inside the beltway (a nice residential neighborhood). The car was parked in the driveway. We have had some car break-ins in the past but this is new…

Wow, I’m sorry. It has not happened to me, but I keep seeing news reports about it. And many have been that aholes are drilling through the tank to drain it.
