Lady M is known for their crepe cake.
Shukla bakery in Rockville has plain sponge, and also matcha flavor I think. It’s been a long time since I went and I don’t remember if I saw chocolate sponge.
If you really have an intense craving, sponge cake is very easy to make at home.

Also check out Korean bakeries in Fairfax/Annandale. Their cakes are typically spongey and not dense.

I want/need good cake. I'm talking sponge, not flourless, not gateau, not anything dense or fudgey. SPONGE CAKE. Can someone recommend a bakery with good spongey chocolate cake, or a restaurant?
