But who pays for metro anymore... lol.

Guess you havent transferred to another card before. If you do a transfer that card is part of your registered cards so transferring accomplishes nothing other than moving balances to an alternate card that is still in your name (it also voids the old card). I have 1500 on a Smart Trip only path I thought about was selling to a friend. That would require sitting down and having the friend update my login with their email and password while we agree on the sale price

You put $1500 on a smart trip card?

Yes, this the story that needs to be told here...

All sales are not final. The federal government gets any unused funds back each month. Why can’t the card holder get their money back?

Large enough that I want it back. It’s ridiculous that you can’t remove money. I’ve never parked in a metro lot.

Why do that when you can just transfer the value to another card, then sell the card.

I recently discovered my SmarTrip card still has money stored separately from smart benefits. I rarely ride the metro and only to work, so it’s been years since I tapped into this personal stored value. Metro says your money can be refunded if you move at least 100 miles from DC. Has anyone been able to retrieve their money without moving? Can I just pretend to move and use a family member’s or friend’s address?
