The best church for atheists is one that preaches the full counsel of the Lord our God. I'd recommend Capitol Hill Baptist Church.

Being a scientist does not automatically exclude the possibility of a belief in God. As a Christian myself, I would hope that in whatever church you attend, you might find God even if you’re not looking for him and do encourage you to attend a church. However, it seems like you just want to join a random organization. I’m surprised your not looking at organizations like Lions Club, Rotary, Kiwanis, etc., as I think they might offer you a sense of being involved in a bigger organization without any religious affiliation.

What do you plan to do at this place you join without God or friends?

Maybe join a country club?

I’m just saying I’m not doing it to meet people. I have friends. Of course I want to volunteer and get involved in churchy things. Just in a way that doesn’t force me to pretend I believe I’m doing it for god. So recs for local UU?

+1. This is a ridiculous and borderline offensive question OP

You go to church to worship God. If that’s not acceptable to you, I don’t know what to tell you.

Lol. Obvs you don’t have a good rec. It’s ok to just not chime in.

A good rec? What op is looking for doesn’t exist- hopefully

The cognitive dissonance is strong with this one.

I mean, I know about Unitarians. My husband is a recovered catholic and we are both scientists. Not looking for god, or friends, just want to be part of something bigger. Anyone rec their church?
