CCRM was going to be our last stop before we decided to give up on IVF. We had an unexplained fertility issue. One of the most important things about CCRM that appealed to us is their lab's reputation. Our initial meeting with Dr. Payson solidified our decision of moving forward with CCRM. He was always very positive but also made sure that we were aware of all the possibilities. Unlike Shady Grove where they rotated us with different doctors depending on availability at the time (we only met with our assigned doctor twice (she didn't even do our egg retrieval)), Dr. Payson was at all the important procedures (egg retrieval and embryo transfer) and at most of the OB visits (there is another doctor that would alternate with him on these visits. The clinic itself is also in much better shape than Columbia and Shady Grove. Everything is done in that clinic (egg retrieval, embryo transfer, doctor visits), unlike Columbia (the OB visits were in Ballston in our case but the egg retrieval and embryo transfer were in the DC location) and Shady Grove (the OB visits were in Fair Oaks in our case but the egg retrieval was all the way in Shady Grove, Maryland). All in all, we were very pleased with the whole process. To top it all off, though we retrieved only 2 eggs and only fertilized one viable embryo, it resulted in a successful pregnancy.
What did you prefer to CFA besides going to the main location rather than satellite location?
Sorry I’m not sure I understand your question.
I am trying to understand what you liked better about CCRM over cfa- sounds like you didn't like going to a satellite location of cfa ( eg not the main office where you'd see your dr for every monitoring appt and procedure). If you had been at the dc location for everything would you still prefer cfa?
