Depends. It sits pretty well out in the sun on my Jeep. But if you do a 5 tire rotation and replace the spare when you replace the rest it's no biggie.

I replace the regular tires on my 2006 Honda Accord every 6-7 years due to dry rot. They have a lot of tread left otherwise. My spare in the trunk has never been used and looks new -- I guess because it hasn't exposed to the sun. I just wondered if it's still OK to use.
