Second Masala Art and Chettinadu. The latter is delicious, but not great in terms of atmosphere or service however.

Rasika is great, of course. But here are some others to consider: Bindaas (Foggy Bottom) is really good Indian street food--so more tapas style. Masala Story (Brookland) is my favorite Indian neighborhood restaurant. Indigo (NoMA/H Street) has a great vibe and really solid food.

Laliguras is my absolute favorite. I don’t live near it anymore but I still take trips up for the sole purpose of eating there.

In addition to Raskia, if you want less expensive Laliguras and Heritage India are good options.

Agree Rasika for more upscale. We also like Bindaas in Cleveland Park, it's a small-plate-to-share kind of place. For a neighborhood place, we often eat at Cafe of India on Wisconsin by Tenleytown. I've never had a bad meal from them (eat-in and takeout) though I will say we are vegetarian so I can't speak to the meat and fish dishes.

Indigo for more casual or Rasika for more upscale.

Looking to take someone from out of town to a great Indian restaurant. Doesn't have to be fancy but good food. Anywhere in the area is fine - DC/MD/VA
