As an adult, the evaluation is very short, it's a list of questions. Her best bet is to find a psychiatrist who will diagnose and then prescribed meds. She can try the inova keller center but it might take a couple months to get an appointment or just search locally for an psychiatrist who deals with adhd for adults.

Therapists can evaluate but will just end up referring her to a medical doctor anyway.

Some primary care physicians will also do the diagnosis and prescribe meds.

Unfortunately there's a mental health crisis and it's very difficult to find providers who are taking new patients. I would take whoever you can get at this point. Sorry you're going through this.

College aged young adult would like to be evaluated for ADD or ADHD. She would also like to see a therapist - anxiety seems to be the main issue. She is functioning ok, but seems to be losing her sense of self. Ideally located in the western Fairfax County area - we could make Fairfax City, Reston, Tysons, Chantilly, Fair Oaks, even the area around INOVA in Falls Church work.
