Often he discovered unique and cool food, but I could do without his try-hard commentary -- especially when you see his background is a privileged media-connected rich kid who went to private schools his whole life. Not the gritty self-made druggy shtick he portrayed himself to be. Phony rich kid poseur.

Loved his book "Typhoid Mary: An Urban Historical". She was a chef!

I recently listened to "Bourdain: The Definitive Oral Biography" and really enjoyed it.

I feel like we can honor him by keeping his memory alive.

I am also not a stan of Bourdain. His contempt of vegetarians is typical of guys trying to act macho and deride vegetarian men as somehow less masculine. Evidently, his mental health issues and/or emotional insecurities were not treated which led to his tragic passing. And to poster who is trying to blame this on Asia Argento should be ashamed of themselves. Regardless of what she did or didn't do, only one person made the decision to end Bourdain's life. Yet another example of the patriarchy blaming women for men's poor decisions.

Same, but with the addition of Kate Spade in such close proximity. Not so much because I was so into Kate Spade, but because they were two people who had seemingly achieved major success, and left behind young kids.

I realize it happens every day, but those two really illustrated the viciousness of depression for me.
