No DOR, AHM 1.3 (she said this was "on the low side"), AFC 8/6 (no idea what this means, it was just on my SHG report), FSH 4.2 (no comment from doctor on this number).

This month is going to be an IUI because the alternative is to do nothing. But I take everyone's point that IVF is much more worthwhile. I did see my paperwork at my ultrasound/blood draw this morning and it said "unexplained," not male factor. So that's one question answered.

THIS. Did 3 cycles iui plus one canceled cycle that turned into untimed intercourse as they called and said oops you already ovulated last night or this morning'- make sure you have sex tonight. ( i didn't even have measurable follicles and hadn't been having sex. We did as soon as i got the call but it didn't help.).

We used cfa, they never told us to abstain. We got pregnant first iui and then miscarried. Got pregnant 3rd cycle - and we definitely had sex the day before ( I didn't do the night before but like noon) , all the days preceding, and night after and next day. Currently 13 weeks pregnant 🤰

Thank you! Is the light exercise recommendation for after the IUI in the TWW, or starting now (CD 1)? I have been doing a moderately strenuous exercise program for ~6 months and would like to stick to it if it's not going to have a negative impact.

SG told me I could exercise as normally until the IUI then once they do it, you act as if you are pregnant.

I did a round of OI then an IUI at 40 and the IUI worked but was chemical. I basically did everything SG told me to do.

I was going to try three IUIs before IVF, but I'm leaning toward just one.

I feel like it won't be possible to have sex before because they make DH abstain for 2-3 days before giving the sample. But if the timing works out we definitely will add this to our "protocol," thank you!

they can't make him do anything, it's just something they pulled out of their a$$. DH gave specimens dozens of times and there was no relationship whatsoever between his count and abstinence.

This is horrible advice and very anti-science. I’m glad your anecdotal husband had no impact but studies show frequency of sex absolutely affects sperm count, particularly for those who already have known sperm issues.

Follow your doctor’s advice, not some deranged internet stranger.

Secondary infertility here, 15 months of timed/temped intercourse with not so much as a chemical to show for it. The SGF doctor never used the words "male factor" but did say DH's sperm count was below average. Other than that all tests and bloodwork were better than expected. We're 39/40, and I'm not sure if we count as "mild male factor" or "unexplained infertility," based on those conversations.

This month we're doing a OI/IUI and I've taken all the modules assigned by Shady Grove, but would like some tips from people who have been there, done that. For instance, the doctor said nothing about whether it's okay to drink during this process but I feel like this board and the TTC board make it clear that it's absolutely verboten. Is that an abundance of caution thing? Are there other things I should be doing/not doing for the next month to increase my chances (or at least not harm them)? Open to myths and wives' tales, whatever you've got. TIA.
