I live near the ICC, people drag race there and motorcycles particularly like to race and rev their engines at night. It's basically to ticket the racers, since they've decided to ruin it for everyone.

No one said the Beltway and the ICC were the same, and everyone knows it’s a toll road. Not sure why those or the completely pedantic difference between MTA officers in patrol cars and MD state police officers in patrol cars are worth pointing out. Got anything else?

Some people here are really making a strong case for mandatory speed governors in all cars moving forward.

I stay under 75ish because I do feel like there's usually a cop somewhere on 200 and someone pulled over (I mean, that and I don't really want to die).

I live in an area with a lot of speed cameras on a 35mph road and get so many people going 30. It's makes me want to scream. So I'm not worried about people "crawling along" at 71- I'm worried about them going 50 on this big wide empty road. I'm also worried that I'll try to pass one of these slowpokes and speed up at just the wrong moment to set off the camera, when a cop wouldn't bat an eye at speeding up just to pass.

Really? I see a trooper every time I’m on that thing. It’s like 195 to BWI was when it first opened. I’m a leadfoot and never go more than five over on it.

Sounds like speed cameras really are needed!

I never drive over 70 on the ICC. I almost always see someone that has been pulled over by a state trooper. It isn’t that long a stretch to drive. How much time is it going to save if you go faster?

Wtop has an article that some bill is trying to get passed to put speed cameras on the ICC. Cameras between every exit. They go off at 12 miles over. So everyone would have to drive 71 or below or get a ticket. This is stupid, the advantage of paying for the toll road is the lack of slow traffic. Everyone crawling along worrying about cameras is asanine. How do we fight this stupid idea? There is a Republican pushing to have the speed limit increased to 70. I’m not a Republican but I can get behind that idea.
