OP here. I’m asking because our nanny does and I think it’s extraordinary. Anytime a new issue comes up, she researched it. She’ll send me articles she finds interesting or directly pertains to my kids. I really love that about her. I was just wondering if other nannies do it.

Yes our in home daycare provider does and also attends lots of classes on child development etc.

No, I hope you're compensating her top-notch or planning a hell of a bonus for work outside of her official hours. Remember this at the end of year instead of being a scrooge.

OP here. Yes, we give her a good annual bonus and pay well. Plus unlimited PTO which she rarely takes.

Thank you - I'm glad.

So you want your nanny to spend her time off reading articles so that she can tell you how to parent better?

Are you the same OP who wrote it into the nanny’s contract that she’s not allowed to use her phone?

Do you read up on whatever your job market it is on Friday at 8AM and correspond with your boss on Sunday at 1PM about your homework?

WTF OP - you want the nanny to read up on child development articles here's a thought:

"Hi Jessica, thanks for coming in at 7:30AM this Monday morning. I've taken 3 PTO off work to hang with DS1. I'd love for you to start your day with a cup of coffee or water, your choice, and review these three articles I've printed out for you in 45 minutes. Use the laptop to take some notes and email the attachments to yourself as well. Then for the last 1.5 hours we can sit together, discuss what you think of the material, and watch DS together. How does that sound?"

Umm no. Nor should she be expected to.

Do you share articles or books with her to read that you find interesting or with ideas you want to try? Does your nanny ever send you articles?
