I would go with something else so I wouldn't have to deal with this issue the rest of my/her life.

I think it’s safer to go with another choice. I like Julia a lot.

You'll move on at some point, right? Assuming nothing abusive or traumatic. Your daughter would become the primary association for Jack/Jacquelyn/Jackie. Work on a new name or reframing the association with another figure. You have to change the way you think before you'll change how you feel if you would like to use the name.

I think finding and creating new primary associations 'cleanses' or resets the name in a way. Goal should be neutral for the name, even if not being used on your child.

I wouldn't think it would, but did it bother dh?

I’d find another name if you are relating the two. In the long run this shouldn’t be a problem because of course you’d think of your child when you hear Jackie. But why go there if you have a bad reference.

We named our daughter a very similar name to DH’s ex (think Julie vs. Juliana). It has never bothered me.

It’s a pretty name but yes you should find one that’s not the female version of your exboyfriend’s name.

I actually just really like the name for a girl! And my DH and I are struggling for girls names. Although W
we also like Madelyn and Julia.

Why Jacquelyn? It's not that common a name or that current a name. I'm wondering why you'd choose it considering your ex?

Would you name your daughter Jacquelyn if one of your serious ex-boyfriend’s names before DH was Jack? I love the name Jacquelyn and Jackie for short but I’m wondering if it will cause me (or my family who had previously met him) to think of my ex. Things didn’t end too well between us but I think I can get over it since it’s just a similar name, right? What does DCUMs think? Will I regret it?
