And, I wonder does head start/prek program at mcps school also allow to be mask optional and they are all under 5 years old/unvaccinated? This question is for my friend.

Yes. It is now mask optional for everyone under 5 and all their teachers, paras, and other staff that are around them.

Then you know the PEP kids were regularly taking their masks off before. Some of them never wore masks. I really don’t know what you think masks were accomplishing in that setting.

At least they had some protection from everyone else around then masking. Now they don’t. There’s a difference between a bubble of 4 unmasked pre-k kids in the same classroom and hundreds of k-5 students + staff + bus drivers + teachers + visitors who surround them in that building being unmasked.

I understand your anxiety, but your child is so, so much safer now that cases are low and continuing to drop, regardless of mask usage. Celebrate that. If/when they go back up the mandate will be reinstated.

There are plenty of decent people who don't mask. And there are plenty of indecent people masking. There's no correlation.

Anyone who doesn’t mask in public around a child who can’t be vaccinated is a trash human being.

Agree to disagree. BTW, mask mandaters are really nasty people with all this name calling across threads.

I think they are trolls or it’s one troll.

Were they trash human beings when they didn’t were masks during flu season? Pretty much the same level of risk to kids. Lower right now, actually, since cases are so low compared to typical flu rates.

Like it or not, there are many, MANY parents in MoCo of children under age 5 who will think you are TRASH if you don’t wear a mask around their vulnerable kid.

We’re telling you.

If you DGAF, then whatever, but that’s what you’re doing- making parents of young kids fearful and enraged.

You have two choices - mask your 3 year old and hope for the best or remove them from MCPS. We choose to remove our children.

Believe it's mask optional for everybody they are a staff student or guest and regardless of vaccine status. My school does not allow guests past the front office but I am not sure if other schools are a little bit more lenient about allowing visitors into the building
