Make sure you talk to your child's teacher(s). Our east end school has a couple of teachers who don't recommend anyone in their classes for TAG because they think the program is inequitable.

And even if that isn't the case, make sure to follow up constantly with multiple people at the school and at central office. My child's teacher kept telling me not to worry and they were taking care of everything. Nothing was done. I don't know if it's because they simply didn't do the work or if they too think the program is inequitable.

The central office/administration management of the program is really poor.

The TAG teacher was great though.

The CogAT is used for subject-specific placement. My guess is that if it is a high quant, non-verbal, and high composite score, then it bodes well for TAG for science and social studies. If high quant, then math and if high verbal, language arts. The MAP and classroom tests and teacher observations are also factored in and if parents submit other tests, I would imagine that information is considered.

NNAT or COGAT, depending on grade. More info here on TAG screening process and placement timeline.

Which standardized test is used for subject-area TAG classroom placements in late elementary? I believe these tests are administered in 3rd. If anyone can point to a resource online, even better. TIA.
