But the note didn't say it was a stickup. It said he wanted to withdraw from his own account listed on the slip, but to count the money out of sight. I don't think bank robbers usually tell the teller to go to the back where they could easily call the police.

It's crazy he wrote the note to avoid becoming a target of a robbery, and was treated as a robber.


Absolutely crazy but of course they treated him with contempt. As a woman I've gone into banks and asked for $3,000 or $4,000 at once. The tellers are flashing wads of cash around, stuffing it into envelopes, and speaking loudly to confirm how many bills you want. Its dangerous - you don't know who is in the bank or outside of it waiting to steal what you have.

I mean it's more than his skin color here.

My husband was mistakenly detained (not arrested) for bank robbery in 2011 right here in MoCo. Our vehicle matched the getaway vehicle, including out of state license plates. Both the suspect and my spouse were Latinos.

It was a huge ordeal until it was straightened out.

Not really. I was closing a bank account and was given a cashier's check for the remaining balance. The teller absolutely shouted hey lady here's your check for thousands of dollars. I couldn't believe how loud he was. I was definitely looking over my shoulder as I walked to my car and took a different route. If I had cash, I would have been even more nervous.

The note said he wanted to make a withdrawal! I recently had to withdraw a large amount of cash and it was super awkward. Everyone can see and here you. They can see the teller counting the cash. For $12k I would want them to be discreet as well.

What seems particularly odd about this case is that he is a BofA customer - why would they think he is robbing himself?
