We do a travel sport and really can't miss multiple weekends. Why are different schools doing different things. This seems like it is unfair to kids switching schools mid year. They won't let my son take the SOL because his new school is not an "SOL school".
It sounds like your son is in danger of failing. Why else would he be invited to do this on weekends? Maybe you should be concerned more with his academics than with his travel sport?
This is an honors World history 2 class and my son has an A. I was simply told his last school opted to do the SOL and his new school opted to do PBAs for verified credit. His new school already has done the two PBAs so my son needs to make them up if he wants verified credit.
The first PBA will be made up the first two Saturdays in May, and the second PBA will be made up the next two Saturdays in May. That's 4 Saturdays my son has to attend in order to get the verified credit for World History 2.

Is this a history class? Some SOLs were replaced with PBAs year ago, when they removed the SOL.
OP here. Yes this is a high school history class. Apparently some schools in the county opted to do PBAs instead of the SOL. His previous school opted to do the SOL. I guess for history it is a school by school decision if they want to do the SOL or not. It seems like this should be a county decision, not a school by school decision.
