We had a brunch wedding and people still tell me how much they loved it, a decade later. Given the current renaissance of brunching, seems like people are more than happy to drink bloodies and mimosas at 11.

Lunch. Mainly because large wedding plates food is usually terrible.

Yeah, if you're going to do a lunch, don't try to do a dinner reception but in the daytime. A champagne brunch, or a lunch at a cool location or great restaurant, or something like that.

People used to have wedding breakfasts! You got married in the morning, then had a big breakfast (probably more like brunch avant la lettre), which could be quite elaborate. That'd be a sweet tradition to bring back.

Lunch

It depends on the wedding. Cool winery with awesome food and friends you want to hang out with all day makes a great lunch wedding. Tacky loud DJ and bad buffet in boring ballroom is a terrible dinner wedding.

Dinner. A wedding is a festive occasion and I expect to have a glass or two of bubbly and dance my ass off. I hate day-drinking and dancing in daylight.

Daytime weddings are the wooooorst. Don’t do it.

For Sunday, lunch. Unless Monday is a holiday, in which case dinner.

Early dinner/late lunch.

I prefer the evening and on a Saturday. But to answer your question, since it's Sunday I would prefer it to be lunchtime.

Lunch

On a Sunday, lunch would probably be better, unless the Monday is a holiday. Lots of people won't stay late if they have work/school the next day. The advantage of a dinner wedding, IMO, is that people will dance afterwards. If you don't really care about that, or think they won't really dance a lot on a Sunday night, a nice lunch can be great. I've been to some really lovely lunch receptions, and I think they tend to be cheaper, too.
