Yeah, if you're going to do a lunch, don't try to do a dinner reception but in the daytime. A champagne brunch, or a lunch at a cool location or great restaurant, or something like that.
People used to have wedding breakfasts! You got married in the morning, then had a big breakfast (probably more like brunch avant la lettre), which could be quite elaborate. That'd be a sweet tradition to bring back.
