OP here. I appreciate the replies and different perspectives. To the last point made, DD and DSS are very close and know each other well. Sure he’s not here every day but they’ve grown up together and will continue to do so.

There’s a difference between sharing with your own little brother vs. an older step-brother you don’t know as well. I’d give her her own en-suite.

This is ridiculous. I grew up sharing a bathroom with two brothers and it was never an issue. Why does she need her own bathroom if she can lock the door when she's in there by herself?

Anyway, did you read the thread - the brother she will be sharing with doesn't even live with them full time. OMG, 3 days a week she has to share a bathroom, how will she survive?

She will only have to share for very few weeks out of the year, right? When your step-son is with you all?

I would arrange the children are you think is best. You can always rearrange in a few years if you REALLY think she needs her own space. But of course, I'd use the larger room for the kids who will be sharing a room.

And the little boys will be 4/7, 5/8, 7/10. You don’t think they’ll need the bigger room at that point? Sharing a bathroom occasionally is seriously nbd.

That's ridiculous. I grew up in a house with a father and brother. I did not need my own bathroom.

No offense, but this sounds pretty extreme. What "happens" at 13, 14, 16 that she will need her own bathroom for? Tampon storage? Razor storage? Makeup application time? I grew up sharing a bathroom with my two younger brothers (I'm female). It *never* crossed my mind that this was somehow annoying or undesirable or embarrassing. And I grew up in the suburbs full of all sorts of entitlement. I played with makeup in the bathroom or in my bedroom. I stored my tampons on the bathroom. They learned things about girls, sure. I learned things about boys. We all survived and are probably better for it, to be honest.

I'd definitely give the two kids sharing a room the largest room. Your 10yo will have her own bathroom anyway the vast majority of the time.

PP here again, I will add that one aspect of my college boyfriend that I appreciated then and still appreciate was his comfort with the realities of young women. He once bought me tampons among other things while at the drug store. I asked him how he picked which ones to get and he said he had no idea other than the box the he knew his sister had in their bathroom growing up. It was so normal to him, and that's a great thing. I should ask my brothers if they came away with the same!

She's 10, it's not her choice. The little boys should obviously share the larger room and closet. She can have her own room but that means she has to share a bathroom - it's not like she's sharing it all the time anyway, he's only there on weekends and some of the summer.

The two that share get the larger room.

Kids who share get the larger room. Or oldest gets it.

Give her the larger room.

If she is lucky enough to get her own bedroom she can suck it up and share a bathroom. And teach all your kids how to clean up after themselves.

We will have three secondary bedrooms. One is significantly larger than the other two and has an ensuite bath and walk in closer. The other two rooms are a standard 12x12 size. There is also a hall bath with dual sinks in vanity.

DS4 and DS1 will share a room. DD wants the room with ensuite bath so she doesn't have to share with her brothers, however, I really could use that larger room for the two little boys to share. WWYD? Give her the larger room with private bath and make a smaller room work with the two little boys? Or let her take a smaller secondary bedroom and share the hall bath with her older brother? Totally a first world problem, just trying to figure out what makes the most sense logistically.
