Subject: Is your already accepted to college Senior being especially lazy?
My senior is blowing off everything! Was admitted to several schools too, good ones. They will rescind offers. I saw a website that posted different letters from different schools. Just trying to get my kid to get a 3.0 this last semester. I get why she is blowing off, but has to keep some baseline level of grades.

Some colleges care, others do not.
I know. The kids just better know which one they are headed to before they 'slump' too much.

Though my own senior is working harder than ever, because he's still waiting on acceptances from the schools he really cares about. But he's never done much but school, that is, doesn't have a sport or job to quit.
But if my kid were in, I would love to see them relax and enjoy themselves, as long as they didn't do so badly they'd get their acceptance withdrawn.

of course they will be. Its a thing. Even my exceptionally hard working DS slacked off a bit last year with school work. That said he did stick out his sport (was captain) and that plus gaming is how he spent his time. This will drive you mad until about October when the sh*t will hit the fan in the way if college midterms but the kids will figure it out.

Yes! And a bit mean to family. I know this is a normal process. I'm looking at the silver lining that I will be more glad than sad when we drop off DC at campus in the fall.

If their laziness is over the top, I would join them in their “senioritis “. The money flow would stop, as would food in the house, cooking dinner and laundry, if you do that. I might even forget to pay the WiFi and phone bill.

Yes, and I’m okay with it. High school has been a total shtshw for these kids. They have achieved college admission while the world is literally falling to pieces. If they want to skip a period to grab lunch out with their friends or hang out on a weeknight, I think they’ve earned it. It isn’t a reflection of how they’ll treat college. It’s just a sigh of relief after the first 13 years of school.

My kid thinks going to class is optional now. Straight A's before this year, but looking kind of rough now. Not bad enough that his accepted schools will dump him, but bad enough that if he had these grades in junior year he wouldn't be going there.

Mine is gaming a lot too. Quit his really easy job that he worked one day a week but still playing a sport.

Mine is. Driving me crazy. ALOT of gaming, hanging with friends etc quit his spring sport which I’m not happy about.
