Why not just do it potluck. Whoever want to order platters can do it. If that doesn't work and you are still designated to do all the cooking, just order several platters.
If you want things like bbq, order from Mission bbq. Get the meat only and buy your own mini buns.
If the weather is nice, just do an outdoor bbq.
Few people want you to cook when sick. The party is next week, so you might be better by then.
I like to cook, and I do it well. I am one of 4 siblings, this is an event for one of the 4, so the other 3 of us divided things up. One sibling is providing the alcohol and non-alcoholic drinks, one the savory food, and one the sweet. The one it’s for is hosting at her house. I intend to hold up my end of the deal, just with purchased less geeky stuff.
We were going to sit down and plan this weekend, but I was already sick. My thought had been to suggest tapas as a theme. It’s not a sit down thing, more like an open house, spilling into the backyard come and go kinda thing.
