I would want you to make sure your kid has allergies (test for them). Colds aren’t a big deal normally but we’ve had six colds since September and we’re just exhausted by them!

I would test before the party this weekend, too, OP. You're supposed to do two rapid tests three days apart to confirm.

I would home test for covid 2x 24 hours apart and if negative move on with my life.

We all start our tree pollen allergies at this time of the year. My son has it particularly badly, since it triggers his asthma.
So not only are we perpetually sneezing, but he's coughing as well. Local steroids save us, but they don't cancel symptoms entirely.

Please be mindful that long-term coughing can be due to allergy-triggered asthma, and that if left untreated, it can lead to chronic inflammation.

We do our best to take our meds, wear masks, and have allergy symptoms as unobtrusively as possible, so people don't think we're rife with Covid

Anyone going to in indoor vendor party is taking the risk of a runny nose. That’s just a universal truth.

From my experience, these “allergies” end up being colds. Colds part of life so live your life.

I would covid test.

Then if negative - I would probably give the host a heads up if you still want to attend.

Are you sure it’s allergies, OP? If you are absolutely sure, it’s fine. If it’s a cold, please don’t come. We’ve had five colds since September and it’s a pain on the butt.

First step: start her on some claritin. If you can eliminate the runny nose, why wouldn't you?
Second step: give her a covid test. If it's negative, carry on.

If you want to be conservative, you should test for Covid. Not with an at home test as they don’t pick up omicron very well. With a PCR.

If you don’t want to be conservative, just assume it is allergies (it is that time of year), and go about your life.

I sent my child to preschool with a slight sniffle/runny nose. It is probably allergies. She has a birthday party to attend this weekend. Can she attend a party (at a venue) with a runny nose?

We met a few people at kindergarten orientation that I almost tried to meet up with today or set up a play date but I paused because of the runny nose. It isn’t a bad runny nose, just a sniffle that doesn’t really require a tissue.
