True. Add Coastal Carolina, instead.

Not sure your source, but the Wilmington Common Data Set indicates "state of residency" is considered, definitely not listed as Important or Very Important. The SAT profile is 1160-1310 and ACT Composite is 23-27.

Compare that to UNC-Chapel Hill. State of Residency is Very Important on their Common Data Set.

It’s not that hard. It’s under the same in state/out of state percentage rules as all NC schools, but my kid with a 3.7w and 28ACT got in. It’s hard to judge based on the stats posted because NC and SC students can have weighted GPAs over 5.0.

We looked at UNCW and my son loved it. On that same trip, we also looked at UNCC, Coastal Carolina, UofSC, Elon, and Furman. He ultimately chose Elon, but UNCW is definitely worth a look.

Look at College of Charleston and CNU, several of these were on my DD's list. CNU is not far from the beach.

Guidance counselor had also suggested U of Tampa but we didn't look at it.

NC native here.

Wake is in a much different league than UNC W and UNC G. Not sure if you're just "checking out" or have genuine interest. Students at UNC G and UNC W will have a very different academic profile than Wake.

any reason why you’re looking at these schools in particular?

Hi, looking at colleges and wondering if it is worth the trip down to Wilmington. We are looking at JMU, Elon, UNC Greensboro, and possibly wake forest already. Thoughts on UNC Wilmington, what is it like, what do you like about it, pros/cons? Thank you!
