lean into the baby and they will release. Say no, but don't make a huge deal about it or it will encourage them more to get your reaction

1. When nursing always have a finger ready. Right next to the baby’s mouth. The moment baby bites finger goes in next to teeth to prevent biting down further and you keep mouth open with the finger (I use side of knuckle) and de latch.

2. Yell loudly, no biting, biting hurts. Make a mean face at baby. Get their attention and scare them a bit. Don’t continue nursing, set them down in a crib. You’re trying to make them make a connection between biting and losing nursing. Let them cry for a bit and then calm them down and try again.

3. If they really bite down, pinch the nose. Gently or hard if necessary. It cuts off their breathing so they have to open the mouth to breathe and spares the nipples

Both my kids were prolific nursers and I had to nip the biting in the bud. Good luck.

My babe got bitey during growth spurts, big leaps, and teething. And I was more sensitive to it when ovulating. Unlatching/relatch until no biting helps. See if you can guide her to a deeper latch? I’d push baby into breast, say deeper latch and pause if she couldn’t. It seemed to work in time. Also for us the biting phases…and there were many would only last a few days. Essentially each time they grew or added skills like vocalizing, chewing, or getting used to teeth theyd need to relearn latch. It gets better the longer you go, but challenging…baby shark. Second nipple shield - get one if needed? In case she chomps your it can help with healing.

Op here. I’ve been getting engorged because I’m stopping her. And I don’t really want to lose supply or pump it. Ugh. Im so sick of it though.

Op here. Baby is 6 months old. Tons of milk so it’s not that she’s frustrated. I don’t want to quit nursing and I’ve enjoyed it.

I honestly don’t think I still have a nipple shield. My kids hated those and I think I tossed them when she turned out to be a good nurser too.

How old?

I stopped nursing my second because of this. Biting with a few teeth in was awful. I couldn’t get him to stop.

Break latch and take a break. How old is baby? Sometimes it’s teething, sometimes they are trying to get another letdown.

Nipple shield?

Got any tricks? My 3rd baby is biting my nonstop. It’s been about a month now and she bites several times every time we nurse. It’s awful and painful. She only has two little teeth. I wish I could cover them with something. I’ve been stopping her and saying no but it has no effect.

My older kids didn’t do this. Maybe they bit me twice and then never again.
