Are you registering it in CA? If so, he’ll need to go to the DMV, fill out paperwork, pay some money, get a smog check etc.

If he’s just driving it but not registering it, you don’t have to do anything.

Most states on the East Coast have equivalent standards for emissions that California has, but yes, check with Honda.

Most ULEV’s far exceed CA emissions. Even most regular cars do as well.

I would check with Honda with the VIN. They should be able to tell you if your car was designed to pass the California standard. If it’s not, I’d probably just buy him a used car in CA.

Some help please. Kid is in CA attending school. He told me that he needs a car next year which I am more than happy to provide. I can send him either my 2009 Honda Accord (w/ Ultra Low Emission System) or get him a car out in CA. I'd prefer to send him my Accord because he learned to drive in my car. I know CA has pretty tough emission standard. I am wondering if my accord will pass the emission system in CA. Obviously, I don't want to spend a lot of money redoing emission system if I don't have to. Thoughts?
