I'm not that squeamish-- I'll pull a hair out of my food and keep eating.
But bugs... I know my food has tons of bug bits and that doesn't bother me. I think I would stop eating once I saw a whole bug though.
Go have a bowl of cereal. Only bug bits in there.

I don’t want to click on this forum until the cockroach thread falls off front page!

I have found caterpillars in my spinach and other greens, not only in the DC area, but in other countries as well! Never in any other food.
The insect was either in the packaged greens or in your house. Sorry, OP, despite knowing everything's cooked and the likelihood of catching anything is practically nil, I wouldn't eat anything on that plate.

I think it had to have been in the spinach. I picked up the pieces of salmon to put them on the tray and there’s no way there could’ve been a bug hiding there. Much more likely it was hiding in the leaves of spinach. I decided to keep eating the salmon but not the spinach.

Yeah it might’ve been in the spinach. No I’m not sure it’s a cockroach. The salmon was wrapped tightly in shrink wrap from the Safeway that I bought last night. The Spinach was from a very large tub I bought at Sam’s Club. Both items were in the refrigerator and I have seen no other bugs in my house.

I personally would throw it away because I’m very squeamish. Are you sure it’s a cockroach and not another insect (that would more commonly be found in greens)? I don’t know how a cockroach would get in your salmon unless you have an infestation in your home.

Eww. Throw it out. Where did the food come from?? I'd ask for a refund and report them to the Dept of Health.
If you cooked it and it's from your house, call an exterminator ASAP!
Go out and buy yourself lunch somewhere else....
Blechhhhhhhh

I just cooked myself a piece of salmon and some spinach for lunch and I went down to get the next bite and there was a dead cockroach in the middle of the plate. I’m not sure if it was from the spinach or salmon, but likely the salmon since it looked pretty cooked to me. Would you keep eating? Or would you throw it all away? I’m pretty darn hungry.
