I like Mommyshorts. I've been following her since her eldest was 2 and she's 12 now. She's an educated, professional woman who used to have a corporate job but did make blogging her job many years ago. However, she writes really well and isn't cringey so I like her. She also lives in NYC so I feel like we live similar urban lives.

That's snapchat that's for the young whippersnappers Edith! But if you're on Insta, most who post for money also post the same content there as well as Tik Tok. I will second the person who suggested Dr. Becky.

In regards to what you're looking for someone who works full time and has two small children isn't going to have time to write a blog. And to be honest, you don't need someone whose life exactly mirrors yours. I have two kids very close in age, but they're in elementary school and no longer babies. Someone else will have had PPD but not work full time. Nobody's life will exactly line up with yours. Take bits and pieces from the parts of people's lives that overlap with yours.

^^also, take good care with the PPD recovery. It's a tough road.

You might like TheBirdsPapaya on Instagram, OP. She has that vibe, although her slant is on body neutrality/body acceptance. But, she's also a mom of four (including a one year old) and she mentions mom stuff.

I agree that blogs are less common than they used to be, but TikTok sounds like a bridge too far. IG is probably the better platform.

Yeah I think 100% of these “tee hee momming is so hard” blogs are written by advertising copy writing firms. Please don’t compare yourself to those.

I enjoy Mimi smartypants, her kid is in college now, but check the archives, she writes very witty and raw stuff about parenting and mental health and perpetual job slog and underground rap.

I think instagram is where it's at. Sorry, I don't have any suggestions, OP. I only follow queer moms (who might overlap, but I can't think of anyone who meets your requirements ) and traditional catholic moms (mostly SAH).

This is not exactly what you're looking for but does hit a lot of your wants - Dr Becky on Instagram. One of her main mantras is "this feels hard because is it hard." And "my house is a mess but I am not a mess." It helps me sit with the unpleasant parts of this experience as life moves through them.

OP here - I should add, ideally a mom who also has a career and works, not a SAHM.

I know I'm being picky.

As I recover (slowly, with the help of therapy) from a raging case of PPD, and am adjusting to life with two very small children, I find myself searching for some wisdom from those who have been down this path (or a similar one). My friends are great, but none of them had PPD or kids as close together as mine, and while I love talking to them, it's not quite scratching this itch.

Does anyone have any blogs about motherhood that they like? Not parenting advice, more life advice/reflections on motherhood and balance and keeping in touch with yourself.

It's such a hard balance to walk - I'm looking for someone who has struggled and is honest about it. None of that "gosh, motherhood is so messy!" while showing an instagram-perfect kitchen with one small spill and a perfectly dressed kid with a crooked hat and an exaggerated pouty face. No one who says "you got this, mama!" (Ugh I don't know why I hate that phrase so much but I do. I am not your mama!) Maybe someone who doesn't define their whole self through motherhood, more of a "I'm a person, and this is freaking hard" kinda vibe? Major bonus points if they dealt with PPD and are honest about it.

I dunno. That's pretty specific.
