I listened to the podcast it's based on so there's nothing new in the story, and they have been very faithful to it so far. I enjoyed Laurie Metcalf in the first episode (small role but significant one and is setting up some interesting stuff for later in the story).
Mostly I am just grateful that they are just telling the story without an obnoxious framing device. I was so annoyed by the way Inventing Anna framed the story of Anna Sorokin around the journalist who wrote the profile about her. Just the dumbest possible way of presenting that story, and so dull. The Drop Out is sensibly focusing on the interesting part -- namely, this character and the crazy stuff she did. I'm glad it's not the story of a podcast host telling the story of a more interesting person.
Yes, neat to see Laurie Metcalf and William H. Macy in the first episode.
