I think a lot of people underestimate how much of a stretch private school tuition was for some families. Those ones will almost certainly return to public.

Why? They are getting bigger bang for the buck. The more pricey schools are probably not worth it for many people with limited funds, especially if they are already in a "good" school district.

It is the reverse. The pricey ones are a big difference from public, the less expensive not so much except for class size, and the teachers can be far less qualified at either compared to public.

I think a lot of people who switched due to COVID payed less attention to fit and just wanted to get in somewhere. I expect a few people will leave our school because they had not even the barest understanding of what to expect.

We’re moving one back and keeping one in private.

Same here for ACPS. Never planned for private before COVID but we likely aren’t going back to public.

We know one SSSAS returning next year. The family can't afford it indefinitely, but wanted to get past covid.

My kid is in 4th at a k-8. We were at mcps initially. We’re staying where we are now until HS

I’m interested to know this as well. We just have one in private Kinder right now and plan to stay - COVID policies/in person learning weren’t our only considerations when choosing private. But I know our small K-8 school nearly doubled in size from 2020 to 2021 and am curious if there’s still that level of demand. Hoping we will find out soon in an update from head of school.

Yep, our private all boys school in DC hasn’t turned out to be worth the full tuition we pay at over 30 grand a year.
