My DS just worked extra hours at his regular job. I was a little disappointed that he didn't seek out something more professional-esque, but as a '21 grad, he was pretty disenchanted with school and just wanted some extra money for college.

Yes, the seniors do not go to school for the last three weeks. They have to figure out some kind of work, volunteer or other project for that time. If they don't get an experience approved, then they'd have to go to school and essentially sit in an empty classroom with nothing to do. Or would be doing remedial work if they aren't academically cleared to do the project.

Student who are not doing remedial work are not allowed to just come to school and sit in an empty classroom, which was what my kid wanted to do. If your kid isn't inclined to come up with a project, they need to make that clear pretty early on and someone will find them something to do, but the bar for what counts is pretty low.

So glad my son's HS has required service projects/hours and programs to fulfill the requirement each year of HS.

I heard so many neighbors stressing about what to get their Senior at WL to do those weeks.

My kid is a lifeguard and just worked a little extra at her job for Senior experience. It was during covid so no one really cared.

What a great program! Love these ideas for what to do with the time.

Last year, DS got a part-time job at a local business. I had hoped to hook him up with a job shadow in his area of interest because I know a few people in that field but those people were (still are) working from home.

Among his friends, other experiences included part-time jobs or volunteer work. One took a road trip to visit a bunch of national parks and document the trip. Another did a creative arts project. I don't know about this year but last year they were extremely loose in the requirements given the COVID restrictions.
