Maybe they were always indoor/outdoor cats. Used to more commotion than cats that stay indoors 24/7.

They must be exhausted. I've seen a lot of pictures of pets along with their humans in long lines or in shelters, and they all look terrified and tired. It must be so confusing for them, and there's no way to explain anything.

Almost all of the dog people I know are very kind people. Some of them became even better people after their pets came into their lives.
But I mean it's no wonder that a lot of people love their dogs so much when the world is full of such nasty people who jump to the worst conclusion about everyone else.
And if you think these pampered dogs are subservient, you definitely haven't spent any time with their owners.

I'm thinking of them too, OP. I saw something today about shelters and rescues in Ukraine that are taking in abandoned animals. I'm praying for them.

In one of the many sad videos I've seen in the past several days, a Ukranian man was hugging his daughter goodbye and comforting her, and the family dog came up behind the man and hugged him. I feel for everyone in Ukraine, and that includes the animals who are also scared, many of whom will die in this crisis.

People own pets. When someone cares about the pets of Ukraine, we are just joining the thoughts of their owners who probably care very much what happens to their pets.

Op-I don’t think you’re a monster bc you thought about the pets snd I’m willing to give the benefit of the doubt you’re not just thing of the pets I’ve seen lots of people posting in shelters and traveling w their pets and it did occur to me that wouldn’t be manageable for everyone and it’s another (very small in comparison and of course!) painful thing these poor people (and their kids) are going through.

It was bad enough reading about what happened to the Cheronobyl pets. This senseless war is heartbreaking on so many levels. So much unnecessary suffering for the enjoyment of one psychopath.

I've seen many twitter posts of people including their pets when they move.

Poland has waived any normal permit and paperwork requirements for cats and dogs. Of course many may still be left behind, but this is a bright spot.

Thinking of the sweet critters who may be left behind as people leave their homes.
