Harris Teeter is cheaper if you shop the BOGO (at other stores means buy one get one, at HT means 50% off only one). Harris Teeter doesn't have abundant kohlrabi like Wegmans though.

I do think some of their items are expensive but the produce is fresh and they always have variety. Their bakery and their meat selection is pretty good for the run-of-the-mill items. Their house brand for frozen vegetables and pantry items are the same price as Harris Teeter. The deli meats are less expensive. I prefer a Wegmans over Harris Teeter in Safeway but I don’t have one in my town.

Yes with signed up Amex offers, freshpass is $30 off all Albertson's (Safeway's parent) properties except Balducci's. Then freshpass gives $30 off $80, $25 off $75, $20 off from rewards triplings, $60 off if you shop each month ($5*12), etc.

Blue cash Preferred is already 6% off supermarkets up to $6K/yr.

Wegman's is great for dairy, chicken, wine and seltzer. It is way overpriced for bakery items. Just my opinion.

- Prepared foods, esp their wings and mac n' cheese
- Marinated chicken that you cook in a bag --> their Thai red curry and garlic/parmesan is superb. They used to also sell frozen marinated fish in a bag, but my local Wegs (Germantown) stopped carrying those
- Meat section in general --> lots of variety and excellent quality

We do 75% of our shopping at Wegmans. I haven't noticed it to be any more expensive and it is definitely cheaper than Whole Foods. From Wegmans we like:

-Avocado sushi and inari
-Vegetable lo mein and veg egg rolls from prepared section
-White garlic pizza
-Subs
-Baba ganouj dip with pita chips
-Chocolate drizzled rice pops
-Mocha cold brew (chameleon brand)
-Very extensive vegetarian section

Agree on prepared foods, also specialty foods and wine (so cheese shop, seafood, meats beyond the ubiquitous though all are good quality).

I think it shares a but in common with Costco - meaning the store brand is generally good for the most part and also there is good value on high quality items. Neither are quite a bargain basement type of place but that doesn’t mean there aren’t good deals and good values.

Wegman's bread/bakery items are worth the trip and I also go for cases of seltzer water. They have some good produce deals. Other than that, I'm usually vaguely disappointed when I leave the store...when I haven't been there for a while, I get to thinking it's better than it actually is.

Well it’s not as good as it used to be, but 10 times better than Safeway. Go to’s are the prepared foods. Hot wings. Prepared salads. Prepared quiches. Sumo oranges (those could be at Safeway). Pink pineapples. Fresh cookies. Cheese shop. Fresh pesto. Wine guys are super nice and helpful. Pharmacy customer service is top notch. This review is for Sterling and Leesburg locations.

OP here, the prepared foods did look really nice but were so pricey I was hesitant to get them in case my family didn't like it, etc. Never heard of pink pineapples before, that sounds interesting! The cookies looked good but for $15 I wasn't ready to pull the trigger.
