Layers so you aren't too cold or warm if out doing lots of walking. I'd wear a long sleeve shirt under a light wool sweater under a lighter-than winter-weight water-resistant/proof coat like a Barbour or a trench coat with a scarf in that weather if out doing lots of sightseeing and walking. And carry a lightweight crossbody bag that you can easily either neatly loop your coat over if you remove a layer or fit it inside.

I'd buy a jacket when I get there, easiest way to blend in.

Is this a real question?

My friend lives in London. She wears, sneakers or booties, dark skinny jeans, no makeup and large black coats.

I usually wear black pants with a cashmere sweater and barbour jacket. Make sure you wear very comfortable shoes when sightseeing. I wear sneakers if I plan to walk more than a mile. I change my shoes for dinner if we're cabbing or eating local.

Contrary to popular belief, Brits are no fancier than Americans.

Bring a coat. You'll be outside a lot.

You’ll never see these people again, so wear whatever you want.

OP wear what makes you happy and is practical/comfortable. No one cares what you are wearing.

Try lurking over at our equivalent across the pond:

There’s usually some good threads going on for purchasing for the coming season, and “what are you wearing today” type things.

We're heading to London next month for a vacation. I haven't been to Europe since I was in my 20s. We'll be touring during the day, and likely eating at casual restaurants for dinner. Am I okay to wear jeans and chelsea boots or other leather shoes? What about black leggings with sweaters or tunics? I feel like the US is so much more casual than Europe so just want to make sure we don't look shabby.

Looks like weather in April is 45-55 F...so still chilly.
