Called around for about month, trying to find a good deal on the exact vehicle that I wanted. Waited until January 31; dealer was trying make his quota. Bought a Rogue SL for only $300 over MSRP. OMG! Some dealer fees are outrageous! Felt really lucky to get that deal.

if it's not too far for you to drive, concordville subaru in the philly suburbs offered me a great deal on a forester recently, like 3k under msrp for a high trim model that was on the lot. i ended up going with a different brand than subaru, but in my search, it was the only place that was negotiating below msrp.

Factory ordered? Sure..that should be based off invoice. Local ford dealers are usually invoice minus 3%, and you get a $1,500 factory incentive to order. It takes about 4 months to get the vehicle. Find another dealer, and be ready to travel if necessary.

It really depends on the car. What did you order or are you planning to order?

And how much time is it worth to you, plus possibly driving out of your way to save perhaps a $1,000.

Was this in the last year, because everything I've heard recently is that you are lucky to get MSRP right now.

Absolutely shop around. Email a bunch of dealers with what you want and negotiate. We got 8% off invoice. Also, watch dealer fees.

Has anyone had any luck getting a dealer to come down from the MSRP on a new factory-ordered vehicle? Wondering if we should keep shopping around or just live with the fact that there's no need for dealers to negotiate right now.
