I'll have to take a look at latest fantasy recs that don't dupe the above, but I am loving Sci Fi- Becky Chambers. If you want to go in that direction. Highly recommended by someone with your taste.

Oh Alex Verus series by Benedict Jacka - I nice blend of Harry Dresden and Peter Grant/Nightingale

Oh if you like fantasy feel sci fi have you tried Lois McMaster Bujold’s Vorkosigan Saga?

Invisible Library series. The first one is just okay but then it gets really good. 8 books in total

(And by narrator I mean the audiobook narrator, not the narrator of the story. It's third person, so not a particularly noteworthy narrator. )

Wayward Children series is excellent!

Have you read Diana Wynne Jones? Chrestomanci series is more on the younger end but she has several books/series for adults that are excellent.

Lies of Locke Lamora — not apocalyptic but denser and darker

Robin McKinley’s Damar books

Patricia McKillip’s Riddlemaster series

Patricia Briggs — Dragon Bones / Dragon Blood

On the subject of dragons — PERN series by Anne McCaffrey (start with Dragonflight or Dragonsong)

Tanya Huff for more urban fantasy — Summon the Keeper series and her Smoke series are my favourites

Kristen Cashore’s Graceling/Fire/Bitterblue

I love this genre and am hoping for some good recommendations, as well (I love Naomi Novik, too!)

Ilona Andrews: Kate Daniels series is one of my all time favorites https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/38619.Magic_Bites?from_search=true&from_srp=true&qid=FIb1sKjxhT&rank=1
T.A. White: Broken Lands series and Firebird Chronicles series https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29363942-pathfinder-s-way

Maggie Stiefvater!

She has the Faerie series, the Raven Cycle, some great standalones like Scorpio Races (and another wolves series which I haven’t tried because I think it is pitched a little younger)….

I’m reading the Bartimaeus trilogy right now which I don’t necessarily recommend but I’m going to try the Golem & the Jinni soon.

Jay Kristoff - Nevernight Chronicle
Brent Weeks - Lightbringer series
Patrick Rothfuss - Kingkiller Chronicle

Have you read Naomi Novik’s Scholomance? I’m reading that one now.

If you liked Leigh Bardugo, you may like Holly Black and her Folk Of The Air series which starts with “Cruel Prince”.

Looking for a new series to dive into. Adult or YA, but not middle-grade. Ideally not too much of a dystopian/post-apocolyptic angle.

Authors that I've really enjoyed include:
Naomi Novik - probably my #1 favorite
Sarah J Maas
Leigh Bardugo
Marissa Meyer
Andrea Stewart
VE Schwab
Alice Hoffman
Ben Aaronovitch

Authors/series that I didn't like:
Victoria Aveyard/Red Queen, Nora Roberts/The One, Ava Reid/Wolf and the Woodsman, Kiersten White/Camelot Rising, Doborah Harkness/All Souls Trilogy

Would love to hear your recommendations!
