OP here. We are neither conservative nor Catholic! We’re art lovers but not artists; music lovers but not musicians. We’re both huge readers and athletic. City dwellers. Both PhD’s (different fields). And tall (not that that matters 😂).

Is there an artist or musician you'd like to honor? Or an author?

NP here. Problem with that is if it’s a female author, you get into the double-name thing. Mary Virginia (Woolf), Mary Jane (Austen), Mary Ella (Fitzgerald), Mary Frieda (Kahlo).

OP would have to go to men only.

Conservative Catholics can be funky.

OP is there someone you admire you'd want to give a nod too? Either someone alive now or in the past? Like I'd love Mary Harriet for Tubman who was a kickass woman.

+1. Mary Indira (Gandhi)

OP again. I would love Tom Skip her middle name but have been strongly advised against it.

With a hyphenated last name, I'd be tempted to skip the middle name.

The baby will be named Mary and be called Mary. Her last name is hyphenated (three syllable easy names like Kubler-Ross or Lang-Martin). I don’t want any name that could be construed as a combo (Mary Ann, Mary Alice, Mary Patricia) and with a hyphenated last name, her middle name will rarely even be used.

Any unique ideas? I like Mary Blue Lang-Martin but don’t love it. She’s due in July. Mary Summer Kubler-Ross? Help!
