We don’t budget, but usual expense is less than $6k. In the past that included a week at the beach and a couple of cheap fun trips. Now it covers 2 weeks at the beach with the grandparents. Kids are 4.5 and 1.5 and our families aren’t local, so not really worth doing anything else at this point.

Currently $12k, once we move and our COL drops significantly probably around $20k. We typically do 3 trips a year: family beach trip, Disney, and a bigger trip. Next year is Iceland, then I think it'll be France. Sometimes depending on budget we'll add a few long weekend trips, which are typically under $1k.

DCUM middle class is for people who make $500,000 plus and still cry poverty. If you’ve been on here for any length of thing you’d know that.

We budget $10,000. Some years less (pandemic for example), some years slightly more (international travel). It’s either one big trip or a couple smaller ones.

This question gets asked a lot, both here and on the travel board. Here are some of the more recent threads:

We set aside 12-18k a year for travel, if it matters, our kids are small, infant and preschooler.

We don't "budget" - we take all the trips we want and pay for them. Our biggest trip is the annual summer vacation and that's in the 15k range.

How much do folks budget for travel each year? We are a family of 4 and I’m wondering where people fall. This includes international and national travel for the whole year.
