Last: Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman. 4 stars, decent plot and interesting characters (but a lot of them)
I’ll read Guncle next as you reminded me that’s on my list.

I’d agree with PPs that Addie Larue is a 4, a little slow at times but overall enjoyable. I liked 100 years of Lenni and Margot too.

My stack this month includes (Next):

-American Fascists by Chris Hedges
-Black American Refugee by Tiffanie Drayton

This is a lot more nonfiction than I usually read, so I’ll probably overlap the last three books with some light fiction. These are all new-to-me authors, so I’m really looking forward to some surprises.

The last book I read was Breakfast with Buddha by Roland Merullo. It’s both an easy read and very thought provoking: different aspects of American culture, religious beliefs, and — of course — the meaning of life, all get their due, along with some nice descriptions of food, courtesy of a nicely done trope: a road trip.

Last: Luster by Raven Leilani - 4 stars, but won't be everyone's cup of tea
Current: Ugly Love by Colleen Hoover
Next: The Inside Edge by Ashlyn Kane

Current and next are lighter than my usual fair, I need light books as an escape from stress in real life!

I’m the OP. I read it last year & thought the first 100 pages were a little slow but after that I really liked it. I gave it 4.5 stars. Fwiw.

Lol!! We kind of picked it as a joke. About half had already read and half hadn’t. We’ve been meeting 8.5 years. Some books we discuss more than others and sometimes we spend more time catching up.

I usually Google book club questions in advance if we need talking points and it looks like 50 shades has them

Pp here, its the INVISIBLE life of Addie Larue... I was mixing it up with secret life of bees, which I also read recently.

I'm on book four of the Clifton Chronicles by Jeffrey Archer. I had heard of him before but had no idea he could spin such a great family epic.

I also actually read Animal Farm this month. My 7th grader read it for school and I hadn’t read it yet so I read it too. And, my New Years book resolutions are to read at least 2 books a month, read a book I own and I haven’t read yet, read a book my book club read that I missed at the time, and read a classic. I’m going to count Animal Farm as the classic.
