Oh god, that's so painful. Her daughter will always know that her mother was ashamed of her (and may still be). My parents are ashamed of me as well. Parents that make everything about them are the worst. Your child's prom isn't about you. It's for them and about them and they should be able to do whatever makes them happy.

Easy to say but my kid said there were no publicly dating male couples at his Bethesda area high school.
At my daughter's school (BCC), I can't imagine this would be an issue.
