Buying a car on FB marketplace and craigslist I mean.

I'm buying a first car and looking for something cheap but reliable. I see a lot of car flippers in the area where english isn't their first language. Can these be trustworthy or will I be looking at issues with code resets or hidden damage? Never bought a car before.
