No, it’s terribly old fashioned. Almost all the showers I’ve ever been to have been hosted by mom/sisters except my one friend who is not in touch with her mother.

Why stress yourself more than you have to? Do the 32 week date. It'll give you time to write thank you notes before giving birth anyway.

I’d go with 32. I ended up delivering unexpectedly at 34 weeks, before we’d gotten anything, so we were scrambling to get everything we needed. Giant PITA.

I think this is going to vary by OB. I was AMA and travelled out of state (4 hours by train) at 36 weeks (granted to a major city with an excellent set of hospitals) and OB was totally fine with it.

Either of those dates would be fine. If you're worried, go with the 32nd week.

32 but your mom shouldn’t be hosting a shower.

Pregnant with first baby and trying to decide on baby shower date with my mom who is hosting it. We are between April 30th or May 14th where I’ll be either 32 weeks or 34 weeks.

My concern is that my OB has warned me that most likely I’ll be induced by 37-38 weeks the latest (due to some autoimmune stuff). I feel like 34 weeks may be cutting it too close but not sure. I’m curious how far everyone else was for their baby shower?



(PS. Please no comments about baby showers and them being unnecessary or tacky.)
