I usually make mine without meat and I sometimes add shredded carrot and cabbage. You can get the dried ingredients from HMart or Amazon and buy Morinaga tofu that doesn't require refrigeration. Hot and sour soup keeps for days in the fridge and reheats well.

Tip: if you get a bland one in your take out order, a teaspoon or two of Chinkiang black vinegar plus a bit of your favorite hot sauce will liven it up.

Anyone know where to get good hot and sour soup in va? Particularly in the Vienna/Tysons area. I have found ok soup, but sone worth writing home about. I am limited what I can eat because of cancer, but hot and sour soup is tolerated.
