If you're buying a new toilet, you can make the decision about aesthetics and space of round vs. elongated.

And if you are buying a new toilet, get comfort height!

NP but no, do NOT get comfort height, it's not anatomically appropriate. You are not supposed to be sitting completely upright while urinating or defecating - our bodies are not meant to evacuate that way. We in the western world are totally weird about pooping.

I replaced my seats a couple years ago with soft close seats. They have seriously been the best diy house upgrade I have ever done.

I like comfort height but apparently it’s bad for pooping.

If you sit on the potty like it's a chair/lean back or sit straight up, get the the elongated. If you are a front sitter or lean forward or have a small space, get the round.

Agree that height is more important. 'Comfort height' is a misnomer. It is less comfortable/taller/makes your legs go numb and your feet can't touch the floor.

Round are better for smaller bathrooms. Otherwise go sit on a few and try them.

comfort height does not work for short people. I get annoyed at comfort height toilet because my feet don't touch the ground all the way.

Yep, taller people can just put up with it. Dangling feet are far more of a pain and inconvenience than having to bend your knees a bit more. Unless of course a disability is involved.

It's a personal preference. Observe what feels ok for you to use in your daily toilet life about town and buy accordingly. In very tight spaces, the bit of extra space afforded by a round may make a difference. I strongly prefer round, aesthetically, but that's me.

No, round are smaller than elongated. You have to figure out what you have and buy seat to match.

Does it matter?

Will they both fit the same regardless?
