My kids’ school does candy grams, and the kids get VERY into it.
My DD (8th grade) bought little gifts for some of her friends (candy) and packaged them up nicely in bags/tissue paper with a handwritten note. My 6th grader did nothing, which is more typical.

My daughter and step-daughter made valentines for their friends and made cookies last night and put together little packages for each friend.
My stepson, upon seeing his best friend said, "Happy valentines day man," and his friend said, "yeah, you too bro."

I send some $$ with my DS. He buys candygrams for all the girls who request him to send it to them. He is fine with it.

They do candy grams at DS’s middle school. I only know because during the carpool I overheard them talking about how they all sent them to each other with fake names. This group of 8th grade boys is definitely not sending or receiving any from girls yet.

Eh, same for DD and she seems totally fine with it.
She said it really depends on your friend group. DD's friends didn't send other friends any either so she doesn't feel left out, but her classmate who she sits with on the bus is part of a group of 7-8 girls/boys and they all sent each other one so each of them got a bunch.

It's not really a thing at DC's middle school except they also do the candy-grams. I think kids, girls and boys, are just sending to friends as far as I can tell.

Our school does the candy grams (which can be cute and mostly the girls just send to their friends but sadly sometimes people send fake ones as a joke, ugh Middle School).. 7th grade girls can be VERY into boys. So yes their may be stories, but honestly most of the interactions happen via Text/Snap/TikTok.
Thinking back on my MS days, most of us had already had our first kiss by 7th grade.

My son is in 7th grade and I sent in some teacher candy to drop off at the front office (it was a thing I signed up to do so it wasn't embarrassing) but we didn't "do" anything for his friends.
What is the day going to be like? I remember candy grams when I was a kid, but that's not a thing for him. He's a cute kid but oblivious to girls. Is he going to come home with stories or valentines or candy or a tiny girlfriend?
I suppose I'm just curious...it's been a while!
