We put our 6th grader in private. We are zoned for kenmore but we were going private regardless as APS is a dumpster fire.
We get a lot of feedback from the friends there. One friend is hearing impaired and the teachers do not connect their microphones so they can hear through their linked hearing aids. Kenmore has no resources to support basic special needs.
There are a lot of physical incidents; but 6th graders are (mostly) segregated from 7th and 8th graders. But the 6th graders are definitely aware of the violence and halls/zones to avoid.
Arlington county has not less than 3 officers at the school at all times, more at dismissal.
There is a very high substitute teacher ratio, it is rare that a student does not have at least one sub for a class.
This is complete BS. Kenmore is fine. Arlington is not the slums. ๐
